Film poster analysis; Qasim Chaudhry
I will be analysing two posters
The first poster is about a film called ‘Get Out’.
The genre of the picture suggests it is a Horror film.
It is eye catching with a picture of a man sitting on the armchair in the centre of the poster. It has a large picture in black and white.
The image shows he is in trouble, looks terrified and digging his nails into the armrests of the chair.
The fact that it is black and white shows the audience that it has a dark theme to it. It is of a serios natures. The black and white can also symbolise the difference between the good and evil.
The Mise en scene includes the setting, costumes and facial expression.; He could be sat in is own living room which shows it can happen to anyone.
The way the camera angled is below the character shows the character is more powerful and important.
The second poster is about a film called ‘127 hours’.
The genre of the picture suggests it is a biography, drama.
The poster suggests that is it a natural scenic view of two mountains.
It is showing someone who is stuck between the two mountains.
The mise en scene shows that this person is in trouble and is in danger and shows a form of climax.
It shows a wide variety of colours, in the top it is showing a cool white, and towards the bottom and the mountains is a warm tone of yellow/brown.
The two mountains are also massive compared to the person who is stuck, which shows the person in a vulnerable position.
The camera angle is a long wide shot, bringing in the entire background and the mountains.
