Evaluation

In the career app brief, the aim is to research about career apps and their design in order to create my own Career app and demonstrate the key design stages in a PowerPoint presentation. I reviewed LinkedIn, Indeed and Totaljobs myself, looking at their design, page layouts, font and colour schemes. I also looked at other reviews of these careers apps and noted the pros and cons of each of them so I can consider them when designing my app. I was then asked to make a PowerPoint presentation showing the stages of the careers app design starting with the mood board to capture initial ideas and some images of my app design. I created a mood board and I looked for photos on google to do with job sectors. My research informed the design and production stages of my design as it showed a pattern of colour scheme, fonts and page layouts and other functions. I added a slide with different colours and fonts to see which one I could add to my app. My research also helped me fix technical problems to do with the correct fonts, colours and layouts to use, as my initial ideas were very different to the popular apps available. The colour blue stood out to be the most appropriate and had a professional look. I also used this colour scheme in my app logo and app colour screen within my app I am designing. I then designed the logo in Adobe Photoshop and on the name ‘Prosper’, because It means success and would help attract job hunters.  I included the logo in my slides and then I began designing the page layout. I created it in paint and included the prosper logo. I created the home page where you can search for jobs, job results page, buttons page with job categories and job apply page, as this also seems to be common in all the other most popular career apps. My personal skills in creativity, problem solving, and professionalism helped in all stages of the design. I wanted to name the app with a meaningful name with a professional look and logo which required these skills. The research informed the production and post production stages because in the research when I reviewed the other career apps such as LinkedIn, indeed and Totaljobs it made me design my page layouts in a similar way and when I did the mood board, I used the colour blue and made my app and logo blue. The App can be improved by enabling notifications by email or text alerts of suitable jobs to candidates. Although the colour and font scheme I chose looks professional, I would try to include more colours within the app, especially within the job sector selection page where I could add logos of different sectors to make it look more professional
