The aim of my project is to produce a timelapse film promoting and highlighting various modes of transport such as trains, cars, taxis, buses, planes, bikes, cable car and trams. Another aim is to showcase my filming production skills for my client BFI.
My original plan was to create a film which consists of timelapse clips. When I created the film, I did use a lot of timelapse clips but also included a lot of b-rolls which makes the film more interesting as it shows the surrounding areas. I also planned to shoot only street, cars, trains and traffic but while producing the film I also thought about a lot more modes of transportation and included those in my film. I also stuck to the original aim of the film being based on transport and based on city life. I will say I definitely achieved my original plans and also added a lot more modes of transportation and included more b-rolls.
The reason why I chose this as my FMP is because I have an interest in shooting timelapse videos and city life and thought this would be an interesting way of showcasing different modes of transport that viewers would enjoy watching.
I researched different professionally created timelapse videos as detailed in my Research section. My video production is based on similar production methods as used in those videos.
The step by step processes and methods which I have used in my FMP is closely compared to the professionally created production because of the techniques they have used:
-
Motion blur
-
Various camera angles
-
Composition
-
Various distances

From my Production

The preferred audience for 'Transport in London' is for people who like to see different modes of transportation from around the City of London.
I wanted to keep the title of my FMP short and catchy and to the point. This is to address the target audience and I believe Transport in London covers all of these requirements. My production is informative as well as entertaining for the viewers. The production highlights all the main modes of transport and at the same time does this in the form of a video which includes catchy music. I believe this will keep the viewers entertained due to the different variety of content and the use of various camera angles, locations and speed of the video clips.
My production can have a positive impact on people who rely on a single mode of transport in London. My production shows how popular other forms of transport can be.
My production can be distributed to my audience via YouTube and the title of the production should help to get their attention.
I have followed the conventions of where I want the film to appear such as YouTube. Conventions in YouTube usually follow the format of having highest definition videos in the form of having good resolution, high frame rate and good sound quality. Also the content should link with the title and thumbnail so that it is not misleading for the viewers and should be genuine.
I have followed the YouTube conventions as I have shot and uploaded the film in 4K which should be excellent quality for YouTube. I have also linked the title and thumbnail to the video's content.
I represented the target audience in my production by showing various people who enjoy and need to use transport such as people who use transport to go work or go to university or to go abroad.
I can measure the success of the production by seeing the amount of views it gets or the amount of likes it receives. YouTube provides the option of receiving comments for content published. These comments can be very beneficial in giving me good feedback and what I have done well in my production. Also any negative comments can be helpful to know as it would help me know how to improve the production.

I began my video with tube trains moving on train tracks.

I then included clips of taxis moving down the road in London City Airport. I originaly came here to film the aircrafts but also spotted taxis in a long queue to film.

I then filmed planes arrive and depart at the London City Airport's runway.

I then filmed clips of planes arrive and depart at London Stansted Airport.

I then filmed a timelapse clip of the cable cars in Canning Town, London.

I filmed trams operating in Croydon, South London.

I filmed some clips at Waterloo Station in London.

I filmed boats sailing on the River Thames from Westminister Bridge.

I filmed train tracks of some Overground and DLR trains at Stratford Olympic Park.

I filmed buses outside Stratford Station.

I filmed some tube trains in Mile End and Aldgate East.

I filmed cyclists in Farringdon, Central London.
My editing timeline

In one of the locations I have filmed in London City Airport, I was filming from a bridge and each time a vehicle passed the movement of the bridge caused the camera to shake, to fix that in editing, I found a video on youtube on how to fix the issue and from the video I added a warp stabiliser. Warp Stabiliser is an effect in the software Premiere Pro which I am using to edit this video to st

I also watched a tutorial on how to make the video look cinematic and used it in my project. I did this by colour grading the video of my production and added an adjustment layer throughout the video and applied the colour grade to the adjustment layer.
In conclusion I really enjoyed working on this project and producing the video. I was successful in fulfilling my aims for this project as I produced a film which showed various modes of transport and a film which showcased my video production skills. In order to improve the film I would shoot clips at night such as the professional ones I researched in my research tab. In one of the clips, a drone was also used to film a timelapse video. If I had owned a drone I would have also used a drone to shoot clips for my production. Also shooting timelapse videos within a vehicle would have improved my film.
