Introduction

I was asked to create a Video CV which is to show off about myself such as my hobbies, skills and qualifications.

 

Pre-production

I carried out research and watched 5 different video CV’s which people have posted onto YouTube and I explained the strengths and weaknesses of the video and how they could improve it. I used these videos as inspiration to make my video CV great.

 

My initial idea was to create the Video CV on video editing software and I was going for a minimal, aesthetic style for my video. I created a storyboard to develop my ideas for my video CV. The design of my storyboard is some text and images. The storyboard helped me because I knew what to add in my video.

 

I chose this idea because I like the style of it. My research inspired me because I knew all of the things I should include in my video based on the videos I saw on YouTube. I saw people create their video CV on editing software and just used text and I thought of the same.

 

Production and Post-production

The software I used to edit my CV was Adobe Premiere Pro because I am familiar with this program and I know how to use it. It is also an advanced editing software meaning I can do a lot with it. Some of the video CV’s I saw on YouTube were also edited on Premiere Pro.

 

The animation I used was normal text in Premiere Pro. I chose this animation because it is easy to work with. I also added images in my video CV. I choose animations because it would be easier than recording. With filming, I would have to deal with the correct location and correct lighting conditions. Using animations made my video smoother and was able to use more smoother transitions which made my video CV look more professional. I only made one video CV and was happy with the outcome. This was due good planning and the storyboard helped me. This means there was no need to make changes after.

 

The problems I have come across is the timing. It took me longer than expected to make the video CV. I took long while doing my research and this meant everything was a little delayed. The changes I would make if I were to do this again is that I would give more time to researching as research forms the majority of the CV video idea generation. Another change I would make is to do more filming instead of animations as I could make my video CV more professional. I could have also added more of my personal skills in my video CV.

 

Conclusion

I think my Video CV was successful because I am happy with the outcome of my video and I really showcased my skills. It met the brief well and I included all of my skills, hobbies, qualifications. I gained new skills while doing this project such as animation. I also built on my editing skills. These skills will enhance my marketing skills and my presentation skills. I believe I will use these skills for future projects in my career.
